The Avett Brothers
February 4 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
The Pompano Amp and AEG Live are proud to present an evening with The Avett Brothers, who are on tour for their new album, True Sadness, which landed the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top Albums Chart, Rock Albums Chart and Digital Albums Chart.
The acclaim for this new release has been overwhelming. Rolling Stone extolled it as “Their most heart-baring LP,” while Paste dubbed it, “Their most surprising album.” People claimed, “The sincerity of the lyrics keeps the boys true to their roots,” and Interview wrote, “As a whole, True Sadness is the band’s most intimate and exploratory album to date.” The Current summed up its impact asserting, “The Avett Brothers have emerged as the key act redefining the genre.”
The North Carolina based band consists of Scott and Seth Avett, singer-bassist Bob Crawford, drummer Mike Marsh, pianist Paul Defiglia, cellist Joe Kwon and violinist Tania Elizabeth. Their unique mix of folk, rock and blue grass, has led the San Francisco Chronicle to describe the band as having the “heavy sadness of Townes Van Zandt, the light pop concision of Buddy Holly, the tuneful jangle of the Beatles, the raw energy of the Ramones.”
The band made mainstream waves in 2009 with I and Love and You. The critically acclaimed album was followed up with another hit in 2012, The Carpenter, and then with Magpie and the Dandelion. The group has been featured on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, The Today Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and more. In 2015, the band supported The Rolling Stones for the first time at the Zip Code Tour in Raleigh.
With a string of sold out shows across the country, The Amp is excited to have the band take the stage in Pompano Beach.
